Challenge

Small business planning can become overwhelming quickly, especially for people navigating unfamiliar operational requirements for the first time.

The product needed to turn that complexity into an approachable experience while maintaining consistent functionality and data across multiple platforms.

Basal House's Role

Basal House conceived, designed, engineered, launched, and continues to maintain the product.

The work spans mobile and web development, product architecture, backend systems, feature development, release management, and the ongoing evolution of the Smallness platform.

Approach

The experience centers on a simple product model that allows users to organize work into practical checklists and tasks without introducing unnecessary complexity.

The platform has evolved incrementally over time, adding features based on how people use the product while maintaining consistency across mobile and web.

That long-term ownership has required balancing new development with platform maintenance, operating system changes, release requirements, and the needs of an existing user base.
